Greenhouse Destruction

When my greenhouse was smashed into oblivion during a storm, I seized the opportunity and made some gnarly sounds with what remained of it.

When Life gives you Lemons, make SFX Libraries…

Living in the Berkshires (Western MA) comes with a lot of benefits. Incredible nature, peace and quiet, tight knit communities of local artists, and lower cost of living. However, we also tend to get pretty significant storms every once in a while.

One such storm made quick work of our beloved greenhouse and "relocated" its pieces across our yard. We speculate that the wind initially lifted the entire thing, including it's base, then flipped it over and yanked most of the panels into the nearby fence and bushes.

Once I got over the frustration of having to deal with cleaning up the mess, I realized that it was a golden opportunity to record some gnarly metal and plastic friction and debris sound effects. So, what could've been a miserable time spent hauling bits of aluminum framing and plastic panels across the yard, turned into a really productive recording session that left me with some incredibly useful sounds perfect for all kinds of things.

Whether you're designing sound effects for car crashes, demolition, robots fighting, or to turn into "low-mid warble" material, this free library of 55+ SFX has you covered. Enjoy.

All sounds are recorded at 192 kHz using LOM Uši Pro microphones which yielded quite a decent amount of ultrasonic energy in most files (up to 60-70kHz), making them perfect for pitch-shifting and being turned into larger-than life impacts. These sounds also take especially well to some serious soft-clipping and saturation. Definitely give it a try!

Shattered panels and profiles of a greenhouse are seen scattered across the ground and up to the fence at the end of my yard. The ground is covered in frozen snow.

About me

Hi there! My name is Chris and I'm a sound designer and audio mixing & mastering engineer based in scenic mountain region of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. While my background has been performing and recording music, it was the process of creating my first ever musical sample pack, Low'n'Slow, that truly made me fall in love with sound design in 2019.

These days, I design and implement sound for video games, have sampled rare synthesizers and drum machines, turned field recordings into contemporary hip hop drum kits, and created loops for fellow producers to use.

I strive to provide uncompromising, meticulously captured high-quality audio assets at an affordable price and help creatives at all stages of their career find the right colors for their sonic palette. My Blog also provides insight into my process, and my gear page highlights what equipment I use to create these libraries.
