A couple of weeks ago, I went on a 2-week trip to Berlin with my wife and decided to capture some interesting sounds of the city. It turns out that our AirBnb was situated perfectly to do just that: With one balcony facing a large backyard with a the Berlin-Wedding S-Bahn stop in the background, and the other facing a somewhat busy promenade, the conditions were ideal for capturing naturally flowing ambiences.
The result is Berlin Vignettes, a library of 18 ambience recordings ranging from 20 seconds to 20+ minutes in length, totaling at just over 2 hours. Recorded in stereo at 24 Bit / 96 kHz, these long-form recordings are great as a bed for video content, games, installations, and other immersive art forms and feature almost no abrupt sounds. Instead, you get a beautiful compositions of distant traffic, church bells, the S41 and 42 tracks arriving and departing regularly, and soft birdsong.
Also included are birds at the Berlin Tierpark and Zoo, and transit ambiences.
This library also features UCS-compliant file naming and full Soundly metadata for easy ingestion into your existing sound effects library.
